I’m a watch lover. I think I came by it honestly, since my Mom has always worn a beautiful watch. She’s had several different styles over the years, but no matter what stage of life she was in, she wore a timepiece on her wrist. I equate wearing a watch with classic style, so I’ve been adding unique pieces to my own collection as I’ve grown up. One style that was missing from my jewelry box? Wood.
Wood watches have fascinated me since trying to adopt more sustainable and natural practices in my life. We recycle, of course, and have cut down on our napkin/paper towel consumption by using cloth towels in the kitchen, collecting rain water for plants, and using Mason jars for drinks when entertaining rather than purchasing disposable cups. We look for both big and small ways to become more sustainable in our home, but it got me thinking about making more natural fashion choices, too. When I came across Jord Wood Watches, I knew this was one way I could jump in and get the ball rolling.
There was something special about the Jord Frankie in Ebony wood….I am a sucker for a beautiful black watch. It’s minimalist, sleek, and simple. It doesn’t need a bunch of bling and bells and whistles. It’s gorgeous just the way it is. The color of the wood is rich, the weight of the watch is light, and the face of the watch is scratch-resistant. What’s not to love, right? Having a large watch has made me realize what a statement piece a watch is! I find myself feeling naked without it. They have a wide range of colors and styles for both men and women, so if there is a color you’re looking for, they probably already have it. Another great thing about a wood watch? It’s a conversation piece! People are curious about them, so it gives you an opportunity to connect with strangers and share what you love about it…and that wouldn’t happen with a regular watch.
I paired my new timepiece with this stunning Ona Chan leather bracelet, which features her famous Lattice design. I’ve gotten so much joy from wearing this piece! I think what I love most is how versatile it is….I can wear it with a fancy dress, or a pair of jeans. The leather bracelets come in a variety of colors, including some amazing metallics.
With less than a week until it’s officially fall, I’m already breaking out the darker colors. Who’s ready for apple cider and scarves?
