There’s something special about the days leading up to Thanksgiving. There is a tinge of excitement in the air and the sudden urge to try recipes that you know probably won’t even make the Thanksgiving Day cut. And then the familiar feeling of cozy sweaters and hot cocoa that reminds us that the world is still resplendent with good things.
This year, I’m most thankful for hope. Hope is what Thanksgiving hinges on; hope that we have more years of thankfulness, hope that our loved ones are near, and hope that we are making the most of our limited time here. Without hope in the One who sustains us, there is no room for an expectant heart. I’m counting my blessing for the little things that are here right now, too. Hats to cover unkempt hair. Woolen blankets to cover up my dog’s cold feet. And people who still care more about locking eyes and giving hugs than a text message greeting.
May we always be thankful and full of hope.
