Nothing says quiet beauty like a pretty blush dress. It doesn’t scream for attention, and I like that about it. This one in particular is a Deep V-Neck Ruffle Sleeveless Maxi Dress for $20, and it’s a perfect dress for spring break, going to an outdoor wedding, or Easter Sunday. I got this dress in an XS, and it still had plenty of room, so when you buy, buy a size down. (Side note: it is a deep-V, so it’s cleavage city. I used a safety pin to keep my apples in the barrel.)
And these earrings…I could die! They are by Adina Reyter of L.A. and I got them from West Coast Vibes in Dallas. (But if you don’t live in Dallas and want a pair, call the store to order.) They are made with gorgeous opals and white gold and diamonds…a true investment piece, but one you can wear every day with every outfit. I added this stunning Ona Chan Six Dagger Necklace in gold for a little shimmer.
Moving on to the makeup look, I gave Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Bold Liquid Lipstick in Lavish Pink, Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Liquid Asset Eyeliner in Gilded Brown and the Beautiful Color Bold Illuminating Liquid Highlighter in Champagne a try. I love the highlighter because it’s creamy like a liquid foundation, and you can pat it on with your ring finger wherever you want beautiful highlights. It also smells incredible! This also pulls double duty; it can be an eyeshadow on the entire lid or a little shimmer just an under brow. It dries fast but does not make your face feel dry. I was excited to try the liquid lipstick, too, because it’s hydrating and doesn’t make my lips feel dry and cracked. It stays on well, because the lipstick is a little sticky at first….but once you rub your lips together, it smoothes out beautifully. The color you see on the package is basically the exact same on your lips. It also has a light scent that makes it smell clean and fresh. And don’t get me started on how much I loooove the Gilded Brown liquid eyeliner! The color is the perfect copper(ish) shade, and it’s easy to apply. The tip of the liner is thin, making it easy to have a natural-looking line, or you can go over it a few times to get a thicker, more dramatic line. You can’t go wrong with any of these products!
One last recommendation: Kiehl’s Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream. Ever heard of New Zealand Manuka Honey? Yeah, I hadn’t heard of it, too. But it’s apparently a miracle worker, because it’s in this new renewing cream and adds a heavy dose of moisture. I dip my ring finger in the jar and massage the product into my face and neck. The texture is heavy enough to use for a night cream, but light enough after a minute or two after application to wear under your makeup each day. It doesn’t cause breakouts, and the healing benefits of honey and other natural ingredients give me peace of mind about what I’m putting on my body. If I could use this product on my hands, legs, arms…I would! If your regular moisturizer isn’t making your skin soft, smooth, and feel like you’ve been drinking 8 glasses of water a day, I hope you’ll give this Kiehl’s breathrough a try.
It’s Fat Tuesday, so get out and enjoy a King Cake before Lent starts tomorrow…. 🙂
