(In case you’re wondering if I ever wear the outfits from my blog post in “real life”, here is Exhibit A.)
This post has little to do with fashion, but a lot to do with the things we do for it.
Like starting crazy diets, cleanses, and unusual exercise regimes. Which I am not traditionally a fan of.
However, after a loooooong winter and less activity than a garage sale in Bel Air, I decided to try something new to stay active. But I had to find something within five minutes of my house, because I know myself, and convenience is a major factor in how often I work out. I chose a Bikram Yoga studio because it was close, and I heard it was invigorating.
In case you’re curious about it, it is invigorating. It’s sweaty, it’s challenging, and it’s relaxing. I loved it. But it’s also detoxing, which I didn’t understand.
After three straight days of sweaty yoga poses, I started to feel like I’d come down with the flu. My face broke out. I got headaches. My stomach swelled up. My face was puffy. I felt like I did for two weeks when I gave up caffeine and my love of processed sugar. Detox is NO fun.
I’m at the end of week #1 of detox, and I have to tell you, I still feel pretty terrible. When we took these photos, I had come straight from 90 minutes of hot yoga and felt like roadkill. However, I hear that after week #2, you start to feel amazing: better skin, better posture, better digestion. Boy, I’m looking forward to that!
Anyone else ever had this kind of reaction? I’ve read about other people experiencing this, but right now I feel like the one person on earth who can’t handle 100 degree yoga.
