When I think of holiday style, I don’t just think of getting dressed up for a party or romantic date. I also think of something slightly more casual but chic to wear to the daytime holiday events that come up on the social calendar! This time of year means brunches, holiday home tours, casual carriage rides to look at the Christmas lights, and several other less formal occasions that still require a polished appearance with less glam.
I knew I wanted to keep a simple look for holiday events, so I visited the Target Beauty Concierge to get her guidance on creating my winter look for daytime that can easily transition into night. I love Target’s beauty department because they carry some of my absolute favorite brands, but they are also super budget-friendly. I asked the Target Beauty Concierge for cost-conscious selections that could give me a fresh look for day, but also still be used to create a nighttime look. She recommended my nails be the source of drama and glam, since I want to keep the rest of my look fluid. I selected Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Aubergine, which is a gorgeous deep berry. This color is perfect to go with a sleeveless cape and turtleneck look like I’m wearing here, or a short sequin mini dress later on in the night!
The recommendations didn’t end there; she also pointed that a pretty gloss paired with a mineral bronzer is a great way to get a little holiday sparkle without going over the top. I chose NYX Glam Gloss Aqua Lux in “I’m Coming Out” and Cover Girl Tru Blend Minerals Bronzer. You can see the pretty pink of the gloss in these photos….it’s a punch above natural, with a lovely shine! The bronzer can easily be applied more dramatically under my cheekbones for a contoured look when I transition to a happy hour event!
My Target Beauty Concierge also noticed I love to play up my eyes, so she suggested the e.l.f. Cream Eyeliner (the color I’m wearing is Coffee) and Wet n Wild Max Volume Plus Mascara. These can be put on subtly for day, and mixed together more deeply with a few additional layers for night. She said the quickest way to take these products to evening is to line my bottom lashes with the cream eyeliner and smudge, plus add a few more layers of the mascara.
I love how I’ve learned to combine several products to make two totally different looks in the same day! If you want some easy inspiration (at a fab price, I might add) visit the Target Beauty Concierge for personal recommendations for your holiday beauty looks. Find your style @TargetStyle.
