One of my biggest fears about becoming a mom is that I would start to lose the side of myself that wants to dress up or have a beautiful handbag or wear heels. Being a new mom sometimes means being too tired to put in the extra effort to go several steps above a top knot and sweatpants.
Don’t get me wrong, I love top knots and sweatpants. But I also love the thrill of a new pair of stiletto boots, magnetic eye lashes and a cool new bag for fall. Luckily, when my son was born, I discovered there are a few ways to combine necessity and beauty so it doesn’t all have to go out the window. And one of these ways just showed up at my door two weeks ago and I want to show you how cool it is.
My son is almost two and learning to potty train, so the diaper bag is the #1 item I’m wearing when we leave the house. It holds errrrrything…the diapers, diaper cream, wipes, snacks, drinks, toys, binky, books, medicine, lotion, my phone, makeup, wallet…ALL THE THINGS. My main complaint about diaper bags is functionality-are the lightweight? Easy to carry? Easy to open? Have lots of zippered pockets? And for the love of all that is good, does the bag have an easy way for me to change my child, especially when there is nowhere good to change him???
When a Paperclip diaper bag came on my radar, it was like a lightbulb went off. Their bags are as stylish without being used as a diaper bag, but since they ARE a diaper bag? WOW.
I got the black JoJo Plus bag, and it’s killer. One of the big selling points is this can be used as a backpack after your littles no longer need it as their diaper bag.
- The bag has removable parts so you can reuse it for your older kids when they go to school, travel, go to the amusement park, etc. (Or for yourself!)
- It’s incredibly lightweight, durable, and easy to clean. A baby wipe can easily clean up most spills or issues with no problem.
- Did I mention it has a CHANGING PAD built-in??? This is a game changer. When you’re forced to change a diaper at a bathroom stall or in the back of your car, you have a changing pad that unfolds right from the backpack. I worry much less about germs and bacteria that my little one’s bum might be touching thanks to this! 👍🏼
- It’s made from 100% recycled plastics and has vegan leather. 🌱
- Tons of pockets!!
- Did I mention how cool it looks?
- Dads don’t mind carrying this one…bonus, right?
Okay, let’s talk price when it comes to having cool mom stuff like this. The JoJo Plus is $159, so even if you only used it for the first three year’s of your child’s life, it would average out to $53. But this bag could go way beyond three years if you are good to it. PaperClip also has a JoJo Mini and several other bags that are less than $100 and they look just as sleek.
Being a mom means making a lot of sacrifices, but luckily there are cool mom things like this bag to prove you don’t have to sacrifice style. Hallelujah!
