When it gets hot, you don’t want to be caught wearing ten pounds of makeup. You look like a sweaty mess, and your pores will more than likely wreak havoc on your face later. If you’re like me, you probably don’t want to go sans makeup all the time, so where is the happy medium? And how can you look as glowing as Jessica Biel does in that photo?
I contributed to a fun article for Fox News Magazine this week about getting a fresh-faced look with nude makeup, and I spilled the beans on a few of my favorite tricks. Since I couldn’t share them all, here are a few that I didn’t get to cover:
1. The right nude lip is everything. Nude can mean lots of different colors depending on your race or skin tone, so don’t just because something is described as “nude”, that doesn’t mean it’s nude to YOU. If you have mocha skin, don’t get a light nude lippy. It will look more corpse than chic.
2. I love Aerin Lauder‘s Mini Lipgloss in Nude. It’s a gorgeous “middle of the road” shade that works well on almost anyone. (Plus, did you know that Saks Fifth Avenue posted this on their website: DUE TO HIGH DEMAND, A CUSTOMER MAY ORDER NO MORE THAN 6 UNITS OF THIS ITEM EVERY THIRTY DAYS. Wow! It’s that good.)
3. The right bronzer is the key to everything, but start with a BB Cream. Foundation is too heavy for this look, so invest in a long-wear BB Cream. (I wear Tarte in Medium and L’Oreal for only $8.)
4. If you bronze, aim for top and sides of your forehead, your jawline, bridge of your nose, and a light dusting on the apples of your cheeks. My favorite video on mastering the bronzing technique for your BODY is below. Enjoy, and don’t be afraid to show your face! (But with a little cosmetic “assistance”.)
