I’m a big believer in double duty posts, and this one is about picking the right jewelry and giving your scalp the right treatment so your hair can grow healthier, longer, and fuller. Sound good?
Let’s start with jewelry. I have a healthy obsession with jewelry since childhood, but more doesn’t equal better. It’s all about curating your jewelry collection and buying the pieces you love and want to wear again and again. And again.
*Here’s my rule of thumb: two trendy (read: more affordable) pieces a season, and then one or two investment pieces per year. So, if you’re counting, that’s eight trendy or fun pieces, and two investment pieces per year. This keeps me from indulging myself with cheap pieces I won’t love past tomorrow and end up delivering to the Salvation Army. Not everything needs to be diamonds and pearls….a well rounded collection contains baubles at every price point.
Cate & Chole make pieces that I want to keep wearing over and over, and I just received this gorgeous necklace and ring to be my summer staples! The marble crescent moon stone necklace with accent stones caught my eye…it’s a little edgy, but still really feminine with the pretty stones. It has adjustable length, too, which I love, because you can wear it higher or lower on the neck. It’s gold, which I think is such a warm, summery color to compliment a summer tan! For only $60, this was a no-brainer. I’m a sucker for a gorgeous ring, so I also had to add the “Victorious” ring to my jewelry box. It’s a fabulous rose gold criss-cross band filled with sparkling CZ’s! It looks elegant on your ring finger or middle finger, and it’s a total statement piece. For only $99, it’s a stunner. I find myself wearing it even when I’m dressed down in jeans and tee because it adds such a nice sparkle.
Now that we’ve discussed jewelry picking, I want to share *my scalp secrets*. Ever since using a bomb clarifying shampoo a while back, I realized how much gunk I have resting on my scalp. It’s amazing how much damage you can do to your hair with layers of hairspray, dry shampoo, mousse, and root booster. I also love to use volumizing hair powder, which works like a charm but feels like having dried glue in your hair. Enter Aveda Pramasana Purifying Scalp Cleanser and Pramasana Protective Scalp Concentrate. The cleanser can be used every time you shampoo-just massage it in, follow with your shampoo and rinse. It exfoliates the scalp, removing pollution to create a clean slate for growing beautiful hair. (Finally! Something to get rid of all the build up. Gross, right?)
On the days you cleanse your scalp, use the Protective Scalp Concentrate. I could get all science-ish on you, but basically, it balances the sebum (hair oils) and keeps your scalp healthy. Just part clean, damp hair from front to back hairline and apply it to your part with the dropper touching the clean scalp. Repeat in five or more sections to cover your entire scalp. Massage in. Don’t rinse this out; let it marinate and make your hair gorgeous!
