I have the driest skin on the planet. I sleep with a Dyson Humidifier going all night long, I try to limit my steaming hot showers, and I’ve tried a billion different moisturizers. I’m just genetically wired to have dry skin, I guess. And that’s a problem, because dry skin is itchy and uncomfortable…AND, makes you look old before your time. So this is serious business.
Winter doesn’t help things, either. Cold weather means heaters on indoors, in my car, in my bathroom when I get out of the steaming hot shower. I’ve found some great moisturizers for my body, like Morroccan Oil Dry Body Oil and Eucerin, but when it comes to my face, I have been on the hunt. Here is what I discovered works best:
Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Cleanser and Intensive Moisture Balance.
I have reviewed Dermalogica products before, and have always loved them. They aren’t for those with a small budget for skincare, but I will say that you don’t have to use a ton of product, which means you get more bang for your buck. I’m all about investing in good skincare these days because it saves you from having expensive procedures done down the road, so Dermalogica is a go-to for me.
The Intensive Moisture Cleanser is a refreshing change from so many cleansers that either dry my skin out, or they are too oily-ish and don’t really deep clean pores. This one is PERFECT for winter! If you already have a favorite cleanser, consider swapping it out for this one just for the winter months if you have any dry skin patches on your face. It’s gentle, and will leave your skin soft. It took care of my dryness in three days of use! I like to use this cleanser and my Foreo to really get all my makeup off. You can use it with your Clairsonic or just by lathering with your hands if you want. It gives you a smooth canvas to apply the next step…
Intensive Moisture Balance. This is another Dermalogica product with a cult following. Why? Because it’s amazing. Yes, it’s pricey. But once again, it doesn’t take much product to get the job done, so it lasts a long time. I wear it morning and night during wintertime, and it keeps my skin hydrated and soft all day long. My makeup looks better and stays on longer. And my nose no longer has flaky, dead skin on the end of it.
There you have it…my very simple solution to dry skin. I can’t imagine making it through winter without these two!
