Today’s post isn’t about style, but I thought I’d share a few snaps of what I wore (practically), everyday while I was in Colorado. Loose tee, torn jeans, and flannel shirt. I do have to express my love for these ultra casual sneakers that I scored for $12 and they come in a variety of colors. They are comfortable, too!
Okay, now let’s get down to business. First up, dull skin. Mine has been the worst lately. Too much sun mixed with with too much makeup has left my face a bit ashen and dull. I shared a few posts ago about the best face masks to help combat my skin issues-L’Orèal knocked it out of the park with those three. But I still needed a brightening cleanser and moisturizer to add to my skincare rotation, so of course I went straight to L’Orèal’s new RevitaLift Bright Reveal products (c/o) first to test them out. The reviews on Amazon for these products is impressive, and they are affordable, too. I tried the Bright Reveal Cleanser and Moisturizer with SPF while on vacation, and even in the dry Colorado climate, my skin stayed soft. Both products have a light scent and great texture, and the cleanser got rid of any dry, flaky skin. The moisturizer isn’t heavy or sticky, which is a major bonus. (Side note: they both have a $2.50 off coupon on Amazon right now!)
But now for the truth…did they brighten my dull skin? In a word, YES. They did! I think the mixture of Glycolic Acid plus Vitamin C and Pro-Retinol is a pretty amazing combo. I believe it evened out my skin tone more than it brightened it, but that alone is worth giving it a try. (No more patchy redness!) The SPF 30 sunscreen was a major selling point to me, but be warned-DON’T get this stuff too close to your eyes. They will burn. As with any product that contains sunscreen, be gentle when going around your eye area. The Bright Reveal Cleanser removed all my makeup easily, including stubborn mascara. Two thumbs up!
Let’s move on to epilating. Most of you know I’ve been raving non-stop about laser hair removal, and it is legit, folks. My laser hair treatments at Skintastic are still on-going, but I can safely say it’s one of the best ways you can invest in yourself. I love being able to go weeks without shaving! Though the laser treatments are killer on my legs, bikini, and underarms, the hair on my arms is actually too light to laser. I decided to try a compact epilator after reading tons of reviews on Amazon, and the Emjoi EpiSlim e18 (c/o) was super affordable-under $35. I’d used the Emjoi AP-18 Tweezer Head Epilator on my legs for years before laser, but it seemed far too heavy duty for my arms. I am thrilled with how well this little guy works…and it takes two AA batteries, so you don’t have to plug it in. It worked beautifully on my arms (hair didn’t grow back for 2.5 weeks), and it’s also useful for facial fuzz, knuckles, toes…anywhere you have a little fuzziness you want to eliminate. It’s compact, so it traveling with it or carrying it in your handbag for quick touch-ups is easy. Make sure your skin is free of lotions and oils, and I think it works best to use it right out of the shower once you’ve towel dried. If you’re sick of shaving daily, this just might be the answer you’ve been looking for.
It’s Monday, so I’m starting this week with a commitment to try and lean into change rather than fighting it. What’s your goal for the week?
