I never knew if I would be a mother or not…you know how some little girls dream of being a mom all their lives? That wasn’t me. I wasn’t sure what God had planned for me. But after meeting and marrying my husband, I knew I would be missing out on something special if I didn’t have a family with him. He was the most loving, caring person to my grandparents at the end of their lives, and seeing how dedicated he was to family really touched my heart. It takes a lot to become a caregiver for your wife’s grandparents; he helped feed, change, bathe, and love them and I will never forget seeing that godliness. And I knew from that moment on, he would make the best father I could imagine.
Celebrating this moment in our lives has been a high priority! There are a few things in life that are truly monumental, and having our son is one of those. So when my family and friends threw us a baby shower recently, we took each moment and treasured them in our hearts. In fact, we were fortunate enough that our family in Kansas also threw us the most amazing baby shower, too! It was an adorable baseball theme (since we’ve taken up calling him Mr. October, a baseball reference for those who don’t follow sports,) and the food, drinks, and decorations were amazing! My Mother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law outdid themselves with the decor and planning. It was the perfect way to kick off spoiling this little guy with things he will need in the coming weeks.
I wanted to share some photos from our Texas shower as well, which was at Pazzo Uptown in Dallas. There was a fun three course menu, which included Avocado Toast, Ricotta Pancakes, and Burratta Egg Latkes, and two specialty mocktails. We had passed mini cinnamon rolls and donuts with Nutella spread, which was delicious, too! The cake was a yummy vanilla, and looked so pretty decorated with flowers from Lauren Morgan Floral. The tables were filled with small wooden blocks in our nursery colors that guests were asked to decorate and write sweet messages on. They are being stained and treated with non-toxic glaze so our son can play with them as he gets older….such an awesome idea. Since I try to stay dairy-free as much as possible, my friend Stephanie had a popsicle cart brought in that made all-natural, dairy-free pops that tasted amazing. The Mojito flavor was my favorite! My friend Martha made the adorable (and super detailed!) diaper cake, topped with the cutest grey fox toy that our little guy can cuddle with. The guest book was filled with mini-Polaroid snapshots of each guest and their kind words, which is a keepsake we have displayed in the nursery. Oh, and the little jars of honey were such a great party favor! They said “From the Mommy to Bee”. I’m seriously obsessed with honey, so it was cool for them to create one of my favorites for family and friends to take home and enjoy.
My sweet Mom worked with A Little Party Co to coordinate the party elements, like the gorgeous balloon installation. There is something so fun and whimsical about balloons, and I’ve probably had more questions about this than anything else at the party. It’s amazing how they create these beautiful works of art out of balloons! If you are looking for someone who executes a party perfectly, they are the first call you should make! They not only did far beyond what everyone expected, but were as kind and nice as old friends would be. I felt really loved by those who took the time, energy, and money to make this day so special. It couldn’t have been a better way to celebrate.
Wingspan Creative created a beautiful video of the party if you’d like a peek at the day!
