Redheads are often advised that shades of red aren’t the most flattering with our hair color. I disagree! I love this oxblood color for fall; it’s beautiful with black, brown, or any shade of neutral. This Rachel Zoe dress with bell sleeves is a pretty choice for those fall days when it’s still a little warm and you don’t want long sleeves, but you still want to look seasonal. It’s a great choice for work or church.
I paired this dress with rose gold jewelry and a classic Chanel Jumbo Flap bag, and simple nude heels. I wanted to let the dress do the talking! Well, the dress and my makeup.
I discovered the insanely beautiful Burberry cosmetics line earlier this year, and this box of fall goodies is one of the best collections yet. The Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base – Nude Radiance No.01 is a primer like no other. I’m not usually a primer girl unless I’m really taking the time to do a full-out glam look, but this may have totally changed my mind. Instead of using it all over my face, I like to let it melt into the areas I want to highlight: cheek bones, brow bones, tip of my nose, and the temples. If you want to mix it with foundation, you can do that, too. (Which I personally think would look gorgeous for a night out!) The best thing about this product is that it doesn’t make you look sweaty or oily…just fresh and dewy. It’s incredibly hydrating, which I didn’t expect, but I totally love. (Ever notice how some highlighters dry out your skin?! It’s the worst.) I read some online reviews and learned that girls are ordering these in bulk and hoarding them, they adore it so much. I now understand why!
For kicking things up a notch, there is the Burberry Fresh Glow Highlighter – Nude Gold No.02. This can be as subtle or high drama as you want, because it provides buildable coverage as you go. Since I like to wear the fluid base on my face, I use this gorgeous shimmer on my décolletage collar bones, and arms. It’s a nice subtle way to have a glow that isn’t too chalky or comes across with a white sheen. It’s a shimmering gold that still somehow looks natural.
Now, let’s talk contouring. I don’t do much of it unless it’s for a glam shoot, but the Burberry Face Contour-Medium No. 01 is really, really easy to use. It’s creamy and light, so you don’t look “muddy”. I like to create small shadows on my cheekbones, jawline and trace down the sides of my nose. I then blend it out thoroughly. It’s pretty amazing how a little contour goes a long way to help the highlighter bring out your best features.
When it comes to carrying compacts in my purse these days, I don’t do it much anymore. Too many broken compacts and messy purse pockets left me gun-shy about carrying them around. So, when I need a touch-up or highlight on the go, I keep the Burberry Fresh Glow – Highlighting Luminous Pen . I can use it over freshly cleansed skin or over my makeup. But I basically just keep it as my back-up highlight in my purse.
And last, but definitely not least, is the Burberry Lip Colour Contour. It’s a beautiful primer and lip color in one! I wore mine under and over my lipstick because it smoothed and softened my lips so my darker color wouldn’t crack or bleed. It kept my lips soft all day, and lasted longer than your average lip product. You can use this to give your lips the appearance of being much fuller, too! Love, love, love.
That’s all for the Burberry fall makeup review! I’ll see you in a few days to show you a new Free People dress that I got more compliments on than anything else I’ve worn lately….
