Layering up this time of year is what it’s all about. I’m a poncho girl through and through, because it’s quite possibly the easiest piece to layer with that can still look pulled together and chic. I found this casual version of a fringe poncho for less than $30, and threw it on over a long sleeve tee and skinny jeans…perfect for the weather that has just turned seriously cold.
And as the weather turns colder and wetter, nothing guarantees comfort and warmth more than the pair of shoes you have on. I can’t say enough great things about this pair of Baretraps Susanna riding boots. I’m a stickler for shoes that are easy to put on and take off. This pair has a side zipper, so you can slip in and out of these boots easily. (One important thing to note: Baretraps carries wide calf versions of their styles! You never have to wear a pair of super tight riding boots ever again.) I have a handful of low heel or flat boots, but these are by far some of the most comfortable. For those long days of Christmas shopping, I’ve been wearing these to save my feet from pain. (Plus, they are the perfect shade of griege.) If you are an animal lover and try to buy vegan leather products, you can also feel good about wearing these!
Before I close this post, can we talk for a minute about how dry skin gets in the winter time? I already have dry skin in the summer, so in the winter, I turn into the Sahara desert. I’m always searching for new products to try that will help me retain moisture all day so I don’t have to reapply lotion in the morning and at night. (Because I’m lazy.) Shea Body Butter has been doing the trick so far this season…especially on my dry elbows, knees, and hands. The Body Shop is top of my list of places to shop because I love their products, of course, but also their mission. For every specially selected Holiday gift you buy this year The Body Shop will help protect endangered creatures and restore 1 square meter of rainforest. The goal is to raise $200,000 this year, which will be split between a bio-bridge project in Vietnam, and rainforest animal protection projects in Indonesia & Malaysia. So, even if you can’t join the Peace Corp or travel to the rainforest for conservation efforts, you can give back by purchasing products like this shea body butter. When you support companies like The Body Shop who are doing great things for the world, you’re helping save our planet. 🙂
