Summer may be over, but being in shape isn’t a seasonal thing for me anymore. I decided this year that I need to maintain a healthy weight and muscle tone all year long, not just when you can see more skin. I rejoined the gym, have taken up running more often, and picked up new habits, like jump rope. This TKO jump rope is far superior to the worn out fabric ropes we used in school as a kid. This thing is awesome for a few reasons:
1. It’s one of the most affordable pieces of workout equipment you can own.
2. It’s portable! It fits in my purse, my gym bag, my car side pocket…it’s easy to take from place to place.
3. I can use it to stretch, for a cardio workout, a slow cool-down activity, or just to get my heart pumping before I take a high intensity class.
The price is also what sold me. You can find the rubber-coated TKO jump ropes at Macy’s for $30. (They are also a fun gift for kids.)
Okay, so I said I joined the gym again. The primary reason I like going to a specific place to work out is because of the amazing classes…I am completely motivated (or sometimes shamed) into staying for the entire hour and sweating things out. I had an opportunity to try out The Ride House in Dallas last week, and it was amazing! If you haven’t tried spin before, or even if you have, I recommend going to The Ride House (or something like it in your area,) to get a top shelf spin experience. This ain’t your momma’s spin class; it’s like going to a spa with “exhilarating music, state-of-the-art sound, stadium-style layout, ambient and LED lighting, and energetic and professional instructors under one luxurious roof.” I was blown away by how much fun the class was, and how the instructors manage to give you a FULL body workout even on a bike. If every spin class was this much fun, there would be a waiting list a mile long to join.
Finally, if you’re looking to get out and enjoy this fall weather in several weeks, the IT’S YOUR TIME 6K will be at Klyde Warren Park on Saturday, November 14th, brought to you by SIX:02. (SIX:02 has the cutest athleisure items you’ve ever seen….it’s where this workout outfit came from!) You can register early here, and I hope to see you there…last year was amazing. (Side note: my photographer won first place in her age group last year, so I’ve got to work hard to get up to her level. Cue lots of jump rope and spin class…)
