Dressing for fall in 90 degree temps (or higher!) is tough business. Hopefully, you’re lucky enough to live in a place where fall actually means fall temperatures. But if you’re like me, that isn’t going to happen for at least another month or so. Which means you have to get a little creative with what you wear and still look “in season”.
I have begun investing in super comfortable, lightweight items that I can layer and remove as necessary. Though I’d love to wear to boots and wooly socks, it’s still open-toed opulence for me for a few more weeks…or maybe months. The trick is to wear fall colors on your toes, so at least your toes are on trend with the times. I chose Estee Lauder Nail Lacquer in Le Smoking, which is one of the most beautiful reds you’ve ever seen. I also highly recommend Blue Blood, a rich navy blue that will make you want to buy sapphires and read Nietzsche poems under a canopy of autumn leaves.
No matter what the temps are, don’t let whatever is trending right now make you uncomfortable. Buy things that make you feel good! (And that you will actually want to wear more than once.) A gray jersey knit dress like this one (for a whopping $11.80!) was my first “feel good” purchase for fall, and I love it.
