She drives a Corvette.
She plays the accordion, the trumpet, and the piano.
She is an expert fly fisher, and can clean and cook the fish herself. She makes balloon animals. She climbs mountains, wins 5k races, and wins at Bingo….sometimes in the same week. She isn’t afraid to school teenagers in Adobe Photoshop and doesn’t mind being the only person over thirty in yoga class. She will eat your entire bag of cotton candy at the State Fair. She takes some of the most breathtaking photos you’ve ever seen.
She won’t lecture you when you want to quit something. She enjoys a good dessert now and then, but manages to be vegetarian in a meat world. She once dated a rockstar. She volunteered for every class field trip, class party, and Career Day. She loves Jesus, the Hallmark Channel, and her iPod playlist is probably bigger than yours. She’s also beautiful. She is my Mom.
Today is her birthday. I want her to know she’s my hero, my best friend, and the person who successfully grounded me almost every week of 10th grade. I love you, Mom. Thank you for being cooler than most people ever dream of.
Happy Birthday.
