Ah, shorts. They are a little scary sometimes, don’t you think? You don’t want to go too short, but you don’t want to look like a grandma, either. Finding the perfect fit for your body type is key, so here are a few tips:
1. When you try shorts on, make sure the front pockets (if there are any,) lay flat and don’t pucker at the hips. If they do, they are too tight around your hips and will bunch up, making your hips look even wider.
2. Check your rear view. If they seems to be heading south of the border or look too snug on your backside, go up a size. You don’t want your shorts to look as if they are being swallowed by your body as you walk away.
3. Length is totally up to you, but choose a length that you can comfortably bend over in if you absolutely had to. (A lady would bend at the knees and squat gracefully to pick something up, but when you are alone, try bending over as if you are picking up a pencil. If the shorts expose more than a sliver of your upper thigh, you want to choose a slightly longer length.)
4. If you’re going short on bottom, it’s lovely to go bigger on top. Flowing shirts or blouses with long or quarter-length sleeves are a nice way to balance out the sex appeal of showing a lot of leg.
I prefer a slightly loose fit like the shorts above, but no matter what you choose, it’s nice to have a pair in your wardrobe for hot summer days. And that’s my short answer…
