The winter cold and ice means layering up, so I’ve made chambray denim an underpining staple. Though many redheads shy away from pink of any kind, I love shocking pink with red hair! I think the brighter the color, the better my mood.
Speaking of cold weather layering, I don’t know if you’ve seen the indie film “Nebraska“, but this quietly marketed film made quite an impression on me. It was released almost one month ago, but the film and its premise has stayed with me. Here’s the rundown: After receiving a sweepstakes letter in the mail, a grouchy older man (Bruce Dern) thinks he’s struck it rich, and antagonizes his son (Will Forte from “SNL”) into taking a road trip with him to claim the fortune. The film is beautifully shot in black and white across four states. It shows the humorous, the dark, and the everyday family life in middle America.
Having our loved ones grow older and become a less able version of who they once in were in some ways is a sobering thing; I’ve seen it firsthand in my own life in the past year. But that doesn’t take away their need for love, acceptance, encouragement, and having dreams. Dreams aren’t just for the young. This movie depicts that simple truth in an interesting and sometimes downright shocking way. (So don’t bring little ones or those who can’t stomach strong language now and again. You’ve been warned.)
Whether you reside in Nebraska or layer up just for style, keep warm out there!
