I wanted to share the thank you gifts we created for the nursing staff and doctors for the day we give birth to Mr. October!
We thought a Starbucks giftcard and some little sweet treats would be a nice way to show our gratitude. I bought these little muslin bags at Michael’s and used my “Thank You” rubber stamp and blue ink to personalize them a bit. We then stuffed each bag with the giftcard and Ghiradelli Chocolate Squares and Lindor Truffles! I finished them with a blue and white striped ribbon. Thank you gifts aren’t required, but I thought they might be a nice gesture. Nurses work such long, tiresome hours, and helping new moms can’t be an easy job. We aren’t sure how many nurses will be helping us (and remember that there are day shift AND night shift nurses,) so we made 12 bags just in case.
Side note: make sure the goodie bags are gender neutral. Many people make the mistake of giving bags with girly items, and there are male nurses who get the short end of the stick with those! Lots of people choose to do hand sanitizer, lip balm, candy, etc. Most nurses won’t accept homemade foods/treats for health reasons, so anything pre-wrapped and bought is your best bet. Giftcards in nominal amounts are always welcomed, too! This doesn’t cost much to do, and these small tokens will hopefully be a bright spot in their day.
We bought a separate card and gift card to a nice restaurant to give to our doctor at our next (and last!) appointment before Mr. October arrives. Being an OBGYN is often a stressful, complicated job, and we want our doc to know how much we appreciate him, too.
Life is all about the little things, so take the time to do something sweet for those who are surrounding you during the most pivotal moments of your life.
