I’m in the season of life where two or three friends at any given time are expecting babies. It’s always exciting to see them share their big news and watch as they grow over the course of nine months. But it also means I have the pressure of trying to figure out what to give them at their baby shower. And I stink at this.
Since I’m not a mother, I don’t have a clue what baby stuff new moms need. I hear whispers of breast pumps and bottle sanitizing, but I truly don’t know anything about those kinds of things. So I decided to get practical and buy things I know are always needed…and I actually know what they are for. So, here’s my go-to presents: diapers, and a stylish diaper bag!
When I began searching for a diaper bag that wasn’t too cutesy and is made for wear and tear, I came across Lily Jade. These diaper bags are AMAZING. When I say you can use this bag well beyond the diaper years, I mean it. I don’t have a baby at the moment, but this bag made me realize that I don’t need to have one to be in love with this Lily Jade Shaylee bag. You can’t even tell by looking at it that it’s a diaper bag! I decided I needed one in my life now to use everyday. Besides the soft, buttery leather, there are pockets galore. There is plenty of room for your cosmetic bag, wallet, cell, and basically anything else you’d need for the day. (I used it for travel and managed to fit five pairs of shoes in this bag!) Not to mention that it converts to backpack, has a key clip, AND you can wear it as a crossbody. The silky red fabric inside is beautiful….it has a detachable, washable Baby Bag organizer and washable Lily Jade changing pad.
A diaper bag is an investment, and most of my friends with kids told me that they used theirs for several years. So why not invest in a Lily Jade bag that will not only outlast the toddler years, but far beyond and still look stylish?! (Side note: no shame in your game if you decide to buy one of these and you aren’t even thinking of being a mom. I own one now, and it’s the best all-purpose handbag I own!)
While I’m on the topic of investments, I want to show off my new Thierry Rabotin flats. I don’t own a lot of flats, but when I do buy a pair, I want the softest, comfiest pair around. I love wearing them when I travel, but even more than that, I love keeping a pair to put on after work. (Driving home in heels? No thanks.) Not to sound ultra-fancy or anything, but my Thierry Rabotin shoes are handcrafted in Italy. And handcrafted means up to two hundred steps requiring “outstanding skillfulness, experience and competence.” During the sewing stage, artisans attach a full-grain lining like a “sac” along the shoe edge. This allows them build a shoe without the rigid components used in most shoes. That means it’s lighter, breathable, and has a layer of memory foam that makes it as flexible as a shoe can get! I chose this classic gold pair of Thierry Robotin Gem flats because I know I can wear them with anything. Are they a pretty penny? Yes. Will they last me for the next decade? Yes. I want to give a special shout out to the ladies who stand on their feet all day at work: you NEED Thierry Rabotin. Your feet will be forever grateful.
