Being from Texas, I have always found denim dresses and skirts to be a little tricky. I don’t want to appear like I just walked off my ranch, but I also don’t want to pass on such a cool wardrobe staple. Denim of any wash looks lovely with just about any accent color, and it’s just plain comfy. So when I came across this denim dress at Forever21, I figured it was inexpensive enough to try out and see if I could style it without looking like Daisy Duke’s shorter twin.
My lessons about denim? It’s okay to pair it with leather, boots, and other “western-ish” pieces. If you carry a modern handbag, cool jewelry, and some swagger, you won’t look seem like a rodeo queen. (Though rodeo queens are super cute, so it wouldn’t be bad if you were mistaken for one.) Another fun thing about denim? If it’s wrinkled, it’s not a big deal. It makes it seem a little more casual and worn in…but in a good way. Giddy up!
