“Workout” implies work. But once in a while, you get in a workout that is all play. And the State Fair of Texas is one of those workouts.
If you’ve ever been to Texas, you know we like to do it up big here. Heck, my hometown is lovingly referred to as “Big D”. So when fall rolls around, there is always one thing you can count on, and that’s the State Fair. The smell of corn dogs, saltwater taffy, and turkey legs are just the tip of the iceberg. There are Midway games, carnival rides, shows, auto displays…you name it, the fair has it. And you have to cover a lot of ground to see the State Fair of Texas. A LOT.
I couldn’t have made a better choice than to wear my new adidas Performer Tights and Energy Boost 2.0 shoes for the trek around the fairgrounds. We walked. And walked. And ate. And then walked some more. I had no idea what a workout I would be getting in one day at the fair! You use your arms for throwing basketballs at the Midway games. You hold on for dear life on the roller coasters. You cover what feels like fifty miles of grounds by the time you’re ready to make the long walk back to the car!
I was appropriately dressed for climbing on the carousel…though I was probably the oldest one there without a kiddo. Who says you need to grow up? Luckily, now I know exactly what to wear for next year’s trip…while I work off the corn dogs and cinnamon almonds!
