The past few weeks have been a roller coaster! It started off super busy, but then I had to lay a little low because I was sick. I did manage to eat a few great meals and have some fun in between…
- Top Left: It’s finally shorts weather! The heat has really started to crank up, along with the humidity. (Boo.) I’m happy to get to leave the pants at home and give my pale legs some sun!
- Top Middle: Is there anything better when you’re sick than a sweet treat? These delicious french macarons are from Savor in Dallas, and they are incredible. Don’t they make a pretty centerpiece? Savor even has classes that can teach you how to make them at home.
- Top Right: We took my sister to brunch to celebrate a recent success at work at Café Modern in Fort Worth, which is inside the Modern Museum of Art. It’s one of our favorite spots because it’s surrounded by water and beautiful sculptures. We followed up brunch with a documentary at the Omni Theater IMAX called “National Parks Adventure“. We hadn’t been to the Omni together as a family in at least fifteen years, so it was a treat.
- Bottom Left: One of my favorite ways to mix things up with my work is to shoot commercials. I usually get to play a character, which is a nice departure from my day to day. I recently shot a commercial with Troy Aikman, who is just about the nicest person you’ll ever meet. The biggest surprise about the day was how short the shoot was! Most commercial shoots run about eight hours (minimum), and this one lasted and hour and a half! That’s the perk of shooting with a celeb-they have a tight schedule.
- Bottom Right: I couldn’t do this post without showing a pic of my delicious Ahi Tuna salad from Café Modern. Look at that avocado/wasabi cream! I couldn’t get enough of this tender ahi.
As the week comes to a close, I also have to give a special birthday shout out to my sweet Mother-in-Law, Jeanne. She’s an amazing wife, mother, philanthropist and career woman. Happy Birthday!
