This week was my first time to visit Vancouver, B.C., and it was a fantastic experience! Vancouver is a beautiful city, and the people couldn’t be nicer. I haven’t encountered a more polite, kind, and friendly group. I had the chance to interview the stars of four CW shows that will be on your television this fall like The Flash and SuperGirl, and all of them shoot in Vancouver. I’ve heard there are dozens of productions taking place there right now, and the studios I saw are pretty amazing. Here’s a quick rundown of what I did while I was there:
- Top Left: My hotel was right down the street from the harbour, so I walked down to the sea wall each morning with a hot tea to take in the beautiful scenery. There are tons of whale watching tours; my favorite was called the Prince of Whales!
- Top Right: This is a shot of Cat Grant’s office at CatCo. on SuperGirl…isn’t it beautiful? The sets for the show are incredibly elaborate, and whoever designed this office set did a killer job. (Plus, Calista Flockhart deserves an office fit for a queen.)
- Middle Left: SuperGirl! Melissa Benoist wore the costume during our interview, which was really cool. It’s a well-done costume, with some awesome knee-high boots to match.
- Middle Right: One of the shows I’m most excited about this fall is called No Tomorrow, starring Tori Anderson and Joshua Sasse. He brought his adorable rescue dog to the set, and I had to get a pic with them. His British accent and love of poetry are just two reasons Kylie Minogue (his fiancè,) must have fallen in love with him.
- Bottom Left: On the set of No Tomorrow! They were shooting a new episode in a quaint Vancouver neighborhood with older, colonial looking homes. We sat in the backyard of one of the homes and watched the scenes in an area called “video village”.
- Bottom Middle: If you’re even in Vancouver, I highly recommend staying at the Loden Hotel. Not only was it super close to basically everything you’d want to see, they had delicious coffee and tea ready for you in the lobby every morning, newspapers in an reusable bag at your door each day, chocolates and affirmations on your pillow after turn-down service, and this rainbow car to take you places you want to go!
- Bottom Right: The rainbow car took us to dinner at Wild Tale Tavern one night, and it was the most delicious seafood. The fish is so fresh in Vancouver…some of the best tasting I’ve ever had. I had eaten tons of sushi earlier in the day, so I ordered a vegetable gnocchi, Parmesan fries, and seasoned brussel sprouts. If you’re in the city, go to Wild Tale!
I hope to return to Vancouver again soon…and I also added visiting Whistler to my bucketlist while I was there. I love Canada!
