Ah, the sights and smells of Christmas. The few days after Thanksgiving, it’s glorious. By mid-December, it can be the smell of stress and exhaustion. How many of our friends and family members are constantly tired or lamenting that they need a break? Giving them gifts that help reduce that stress and tiredness can be a wonderful way to show them you care….like the gift of aromatherapy.
I did quite a bit of my Christmas shopping on Black Friday, and then again on Cyber Monday. I wanted to share my aromatherapy goodies from Hanu Life in case you’re thinking of making essential oils part of your new year, or you’re looking for a unique gift for a loved one. I’ve been a big believer in aromatherapy since using peppermint oil several years ago to alleviate a sinus infection. I have an aromatherapy spray for my pillow at night, too. But when it comes to filling a home with calming scents, you need a good diffuser and some high quality oils. I really like Hanu Life; they have personal diffusers as well as a diffuser to be used in any room of the home. Plus, they have a super cute one for inside your car ($12)! You just place a few drops of oil on the aroma pad and place it inside the car diffuser. It keeps your car smelling amazing, which helps calm me down when I’m stuck in all the horrible holiday traffic.
I had no idea what a personal diffuser was. I didn’t realize that just as you place drops of oil in a steaming pot of water and breathe it in when you’re congested, you can have the deep breathing effects of essential oils with you all the time in a personal diffuser. In all honesty, it reminds me of vaping…you place the diffuser in your mouth and breathe in gently. You exhale the aroma out of your nostrils. It has an immediate calming effect, which I didn’t expect. (I do recommend breathing it in slooooowly, as I gave myself a bit of a headache at first by going full tilt.) They come in scents like Harmony ($15): frankincense, cedarwood, and vetiver with floral notes of lavender, jasmine, and rose. I think this would also be a great gift for someone who needs to carry a little calm with them wherever they go-perhaps flying on a plane creates anxiety, or a late work day starts to compound stress!
Hunu Life makes a gorgeous wood grain tabletop diffuser ($35) for the home, where I like to diffuse my very favorite scents, Lavender ($5), Peppermint ($5) and Tea Tree. The scents are high quality and last a long time, which is key. They also come in different blends, like Wisdom and Bliss, to hit all the chakras, if you’re into that mindset. People believe chakras circulate energy throughout the body and balance our mental, spiritual, and emotional health. (I personally just like things that smell good!)
I hope these different aromatherapy gifts give you some good ideas of ways you can give the gift of peace and calm this season. I’m about to breathe in the seasonal scent of peppermint and relax!
