Time. Money. Simplicity. Those three words basically sum up why using an online interior designer was right for me. But, read on for the specifics!
Interior design is NOT my gift. After one experience of creating some really, really ugly chairs that cost a fortune, I decided to rely on a professional for my interior design needs and put my money towards something that I’ll actually be happy with.
Because let’s be practical for a minute-you can spend all the hours researching prices, looking at inspiration photos and blogs, scouring Pinterest, and designing your own concepts…OR…you can hire an online designer to do all of that for you, keep the selections within your budget, and send visuals and prices automatically. Um, I think I’ll take the latter. A talented designer can do ALL the things. And that alone makes it worth the money you’re spending.
I came to know Interiors By McCall when she designed spaces for friends of mine on IG. I was immediately drawn to her style…plus, if someone has the first name “McCall”, you already know they are super cool. (Isn’t that just the best name ever?) I also loved that she is a mom to three littles, so she can relate to designing for a space that little ones will be using. So, we decided to tackle the most important room in the house: the KITCHEN.
My kitchen is a 1989 beauty. Lots of wood, wood, and more wood. Built-ins, breakfast nook, and builder grade granite counters. We did luck out with updated JennAir appliances that work wonderfully and a range that is a dream to use. The kitchen came with two full refrigerators and two wine fridges, which meant an odd “wall of appliances”. The perks to the kitchen are the heavy, solid wood cabinets; no veneer or flimsy wood here. The style of the cabinets is traditional and doesn’t look super dated, thank goodness. There is a peninsula/bar seating and an island in the center. It’s open to the family room, which is great, but we have large trees right outside the breakfast nook that block some of the natural light, making it darker than we would like. Our wish list included new paint colors, countertops, hardware, and ideas for the breakfast nook.
Interiors By McCall is a luxury e-design company, which means you’re getting personalized service and a truly custom design . McCall first sent me a Welcome Letter that spelled out what she would do and how I could help her in designing my dream space. She asks for photos and video of the room, photos of any furniture you wish to incorporate, measurements of the space, and inspiration photos or links to Pinterest boards so she can get a sense for your style. Then, 5-7 days later, she delivers your first design board so you can take a peek and make any tweaks. Once any adjustments are made, she finalizes the design!
Can I just say that in these uncertain pandemic times, having an online designer is incredible. She was always available to answer any questions and provide ideas on how to execute the design. Not only did she send me the most spot-on design board for our space, but she also offers a 3D rendering in one of her design packages that is well worth the extra spend. We can truly visualize our kitchen now with the new look, and we couldn’t be more excited!
The marble we chose for our backsplash, countertops, and custom sink are being installed this week, and the transformation begins! I can’t wait to show you the final result over the next few months. If you’re curious about e-design and want to see more of Interiors by McCall, check her out here. I can’t say enough GREAT things about her work and how easy it’s made our remodel process! 🙌🏼
