Have you been dealing with cold, rain, and wind? Though it’s sunny in these photos, it rained cats and dogs the day before, so I busted out my Chooka boots to keep me from ruining shoes in all those puddles. A good pair of wellies can be a life saver on rainy days, so I recommend a bright color or fun pattern (like this awesome polka dot pair,) so you can still look cute while navigating the weather. I love this bright red pair…they are a staple in my closet!
I layered up for the chilly days we’ve had recently, pairing my Woolrich snowshoe sweater with a soft plaid button-up. I threw on my trusty faux fur hat and Dolce Vita Myla Crossbody, which has quickly become the handbag I travel with. Being able to be hands-free makes all the difference when you’re walking a lot during the day. I also want to point out my beautiful Purity and Majesty Pearl necklace…it’s not only a piece of jewelry I treasure, but the company has a passion for helping victims of human trafficking. January is the official ‘Trafficking Awareness’ month. Purity & Majesty donates 10% of every sale to A21, a non-profit working to stop trafficking forever. The company also partners with a local safe house called Restored Hope, working with the women to help them transition well from the safe house back into life. If you’d like a stunning necklace like this and to help with a cause that affects women and families all over the world, you can order yours here.
I want to mention a few products that I tried this month that are worth checking out. I get the driest skin this time of year, so I’m always looking for ways to alleviate how painful and dry it is. My face, my hands, heck, my entire body…it all gets seriously dry. I found Aveda’s Rosemary Mint Body Polish, which smells heavenly! It’s a gentle body polish, which is great. I don’t want to irritate my skin further with harsh scrubs. It works because naturally-derived walnut shells polish away dead surface cells and skin-dulling impurities, leaving your skin soft and smooth. It’s wonderful to use a few times per week when you want to exfoliate and prep your skin for serious moisture or self-tanning.
As for my face, I’ve been using a lot of Kiehl’s lately. The Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil caught my eye because I’ve been washing off my makeup with oils off and on this year. I am an obsessive self-tanner, and one lesson I’ve learned is that in order to keep your self-tan longer, you can’t use products with mineral oil in them. This product is free of soap, sulfates, and mineral oils, which is perfect for taking off my makeup, but not stripping off my self-tanner. Even if you wear waterproof mascara or hard-to-remove eye liner, this cleansing oil will get your skin clean. It has evening primrose oil, it’s rich in omega 6; and has the light scent of lavender oil. It’s the best way to end a long day; removing all your makeup and feeling clean (but not dry)!
Keep warm and keep moisturized…spring is only a few months away!
